~the Romance of the Rose it is,
and it enfolds within its compass
all the Art of Love~
Guillaume de Lorris

The rose in its various forms and colors
draws one’s heart and its fragrance
transports one to states of delight and bliss.
The color of the rose signified many
things. In the medeivel times –

the language of the rose spoke
red – love and respect
black roses indicated death and farewell
orange or coral roses declared desire
purple or lavender roses spoke of elegance and grace
peach or pale roses express friendship
and
a pink rose given would show gratitude or appreciation.

In decorating, I think the rose expresses the
gentleness of one’s heart.

It is considered very feminine, but I think it

also conveys a mood of delight and perhaps
intimacy.

Roses can be used en mass or in deliberate touches
in a room and throughout the house.

Whether in fabric, wallpaper, silk, dried
or live – roses add an air to a room
that speaks to one and all.
